Look at us, said the violets blooming at her feet, all last winter we slept in the seeming death but at the right time God awakened us, and here we are to comfort you. ~Edward Payson Rod
"Time is too slow for those who wait, too swift for those who fear, too long for those who grieve, too short for those who rejoice, but for those who love – time is eternity" ~ Henry van Dyke
"I believe in the timeless power of a smile and the simple, happy wonder of creating and sharing. I love the way it makes me feel all warm and good inside, like a joyful hug."

9 DAYS AND COUNTING.......

Alright, I am a bit slow. About everything these days. I just completed wrapping my plastic Dollar Tree candy canes, thanks to Angie. She shared part of her fabric stash with me and I used some ticking and some homespun to do these. Maybe by next Christmas I'll get some of them dipped in wax. I did get this little crock labeled! I found the snowman painted on a wood spoon at Goodwill.
I am just putting out my snowman kit in a jar and my excuse me.......
And Mike finally brought me in some greenery for this Mason jar candle holder. It is a battery candle with wrought iron hanger I got at a prim shop called 'Chicken Shed Primitives'. Wish I had a lot of money when I go in there. Right next door to this shop is 'Moose on the Loose', another prim shop. I didn't have time to go in there. I had the grandkids with me. Both these shops are in Huxley, Iowa---about 11 miles from Sara's house.
My Christmas gift from my dear, sweet hubby. Does he know me or what? It was on a silent auction at Goodwill. I just love it. The spots do not show up like this in person. It is so beautiful. It has a dark brown inside and is more of a taupe color instead of gray.  I never let them sit empty for very long. I think I will probably put one of my quilts in it, or maybe a small quilt with a grouping of prairie dolls. I am pretty excited to have been gifted so well by my hubby. I'm going to have to find something very special for him...  I got him a new hat....  Pretty lame, huh?
He says he is happy when I am happy and he will be just as thrilled to meet Ruby as I am with the crock. I believe him. I spoke with her on the phone yesterday and she is just blooming! She is mimicking almost all words so it won't be long and she will understand what she is saying. She is becoming Americanized!
My Dad had a 'mini' stroke last Sunday. He is okay for now but the doctor told him he could no longer drive. Thank goodness. The doctor said that these mini strokes are warnings of a larger, possibly debilitating stroke and that we should be watching for signs. Please say a prayer for both my parents. My Mom is getting more frail as each day passes and she will be devastated if anything happens to Dad.
Gratitude:**I am so thankful for our kind and giving Father. He watches over us all and brings us all back to Him.**

Love your candy canes in that crock with the label. But I so love the crock your hubby gifted you with. Just prim perfect. Can't wait to see what makes its home there. I am sorry about your dad but glad he is okay as of now. You are so blessed to have both your parents still with you. Praying he proves the doctor wrong and all will be well with him. Have a great weekend my friend.

Such a beautiful crock! What a lovely gift! I love the candy cane idea! I have never seen that before... Must visit the dollar store, although I think that they will have to wait until next year... I have a ball jar and candle like yours, but thought it to plain. Now I need to go cut some greens. Thanks so much for the ideas and inspirations!

Love the crock. What a wonderful man that knows you well that you have there. Selfless too. That's how my hubby is doesn't care if there is anything under the tree for him as long as the boys and I are happy...and his belly if full of something he likes :).

Oh...I'm so smitten with that mason jar candle thing-a-ma-jig. LOVE!! And Mikey did amazing with the crock - I truly love the salt glazed ones....How's come you got your gift early??? So very sorry to hear of your dad's mini-stroke. My mother had several of them - starting years and years ago already. Although she's had many other health issues since then, thankfully, she's never had a major stroke, although the doctors had similarly warned us. And she is now 82. So there is hope my friend. Nonetheless, he - and your mother - will be in my prayers - for health and healing and comfort in their remaining years. Wishing you a joy-filled weekend....Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

I just Love Love Love all your goodies Linda..One of these days I should go shopping with you :)..My friend Gayle also had a mini stroke but they will be doing surgery on some of her arteries to keep her from having a massive stroke that they said could go to her brain. I will be praying for your family and hoping they are doing better soon, I am hoping for a camera for Christmas and then maybe I can take some good pictures of some of my goodies, I am making a quilt for Billy to cover up with in his recliner and he thinks it is for a friend,,,He even helped me lay it out and I am sure he will be surprized Christmas morning. It is so hard for me to shop for him since we shop together but when Nellie comes the 23rd I will make her keep him away from me so I can buy him a few things. Take care my dear friend and wrap up to stay warm with doggies :)

Linda, I love your candy canes, they turned out great and the crock your hubby got you is very nice. My hubs wasn't able to go out and shop this year due to his illness. He is giving everyone money this year. I will just have to go buy something for myself with the money he gave me and have him wrap it for me. So sorry to hear that your Dad is not well, my prayers and thoughts go out to him. We went through this with my MIL when she could no longer drive. It is tough for them to give up their independence and I'm sure it will be rough when we get at that point too. Thanks so much for the nice Christmas card you sent. So thoughtful of you to take the time to send all of us a card while the rest of us are running around like chickens with our heads cut off.
Merry Christmas

I'm so sorry to hear that about your Dad, Sweetie... I will definitely keep him and your Mom in my prayers. It's sad when they start getting so feeble, isn't it? My Dad has really gone down in the last three or four years since Mom died.
I love the new crock~ Mike "dun" good! And I'm sure he loves his new hat because you gave it to him.
If I don't talk to you before Sunday, hope you have a wonderful Christmas... Oh, wait~ I'll talk to you this weekend and let you know how James is doing.
Nevermind me, my head isn't screwed on very tight right now... :)

You are definitely getting the best gift of all.....Ms Ruby! :) You already know, but my how quickly they catch on and become Americanized!

So sorry about your dad, but maybe this happening is for a reason considering the driving thing.

Well when you see Ruby give her a big hug and kiss from me cause you know if I was there, I'd surely be lovin' on that little girl!

Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year, Linda, to you and your family!
