Look at us, said the violets blooming at her feet, all last winter we slept in the seeming death but at the right time God awakened us, and here we are to comfort you. ~Edward Payson Rod

'TIS THE SEASON.....

Isn't this adorable? Steph from Front Porch Primitives sent me this with some cocoa and some great peppermint patties. I just love this little Santa bag. I have it hanging on my Hoosier door.
Thank you, Steph, so much! It really made my heart flutter. I love presents!  Especially handmade! ;)
Brenda from the Rusty Thimble sent me Pokee Dot! I love-love-love her, Brenda! Mike said--boy, she sure has a grin on!
I don't know where you gals get your patterns or inspiration, but I feel so proud to have these creations in my home. I am the luckiest gal around.
Today was our shopping day. I'm not so much into shopping anymore. I've really gotten to like shopping on line, but, for now, the groceries need to be hand-selected. I especially want to select all my own produce and proteins.
So.....   the best part of the trip was picking out Christmas gifts for the grands. Mike had already taken care of my parents gift. We don't buy for each other. We agree that every day we spend together is a gift in and of itself. I love taking this one time of year to look through the toy aisle and try to find the perfect gift for each child. And then seeing their little faces light up when they are opening their presents. Truly magical......
We got our groceries, some gas and had lunch at our fave family diner-The Hungry Bear.
Then a hustle home to get ready for Mike's last City Council meeting. I still have to swear in the next Mayor and Council on January 2. I imagine I will have to teach the next City Clerk some of my tricks, but that could take several months, just a few minutes at a time. Ha Ha Ha!
MONDAY~ fried chicken, corn and mashed potatoes
TUESDAY~ meat loaf sandwiches, fresh fruit salad
WEDNESDAY~ chili/frito pie
THURSDAY~ corned beef brisket Reubens, chips, Kosher dills
FRIDAY~ tuna noodle casserole, hot rolls
SATURDAY~ bacon/potato/cabbage soup
SUNDAY~ Beer can chicken, brussel sprouts, steak fries
Gratitude:**I am thankful for Plus-Size catalogs. Enough said.**

So glad you got the package!!! It couldn't have gone to a more deserving recipient. Your Pokee Dot is cute. I love her grin. Can't help but smile when you see her. How fun to buy for grandkids. Wish I could only spend one time a year in the toy isle instead of one time a week:) City council is fun and busy. My Dad has done it all my life. He's running for mayor next year. Once my aunt sent me plus sized panties for christmas. I was only 8. That gave us all a good laugh. -Steph-

What an adorable little Santa bag from Steph - what a sweetie she is....And Pokee is sheer joy....Don't know how that Brenda does it all....As for shopping - haven't started and don't know when I will either - I despise stores this time of the year....and not even remotely fond of them other times of the year either (unless, of course, it's an antique store or such....) If everyone were as easy to buy for as I am, it'd be no problem!! ;o) Hmmmmm...that fried chicken and mashed potatoes sound yummmy.....I'd be embarrassed to post my menus publicly..... ;o) Happy, happy, Tuesday my friend! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

Linda, I tried to post a comment to you this am and blogger wouldn't let me, so here it goes again. I love the grin on the Pokee dolly and all the nice surprise goodies you got. Looks like you have been a good girl this year in Santas eyes with all the gifts. Happy shopping for the kids, that's what keeps us young.
Love your menu this week, can I come over and eat?

LOVE the little Santa Bag and the little doll does make you smile..I don't do as much shopping as I used to in the stores and make most of my gifts and then I go to the $ tree and pick up a few extra things to add to the home made gifts. I have made 28 quilts this year and most of the kids will get one. I alsays send a package of candy canes to me 1 grandson and he is now 22 yrs old. DIL told me how happy he was last year when he opened them and said "She Remembered" such a cheap little gift to make a 22 yr old Grandson happy and smiling. Christmas is a good time of year for making others happy :)
