★MENU★PLAN★MONDAY★

This little guy looks a tad lonely, doesn't he?  Well, he isn't in my backyard so I can't help him, but I would love to. I, for one and probably one of a small group,  wish it would snow and get it over with. I have a deep concern for our spring if our winter never comes! Besides, our ground is still so dry. We need the moisture for our shrubs and trees and the farm fields. This little snow buddy needs many more companions to make our winter healthy for our environment. So, despite our personal preferences, we should all be praying for snow. The kids would like it, too. Sledding and building forts for snowball fights and making snow ice cream! What fun things for kids to do. Makes me wish I was a kid again!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all my fellow bloggers who left happy wishes here on blog comments and on Facebook, as well as personal emails. I loved reading everyone of them. My heart is filled with warm bliss and much joy. You are a special group of friends and I love you all.
We did get to go out to Red Lobster for lunch. Always a satisfying experience. We did some shopping, but didn't have much luck. Mike bought me a new rolling pin. It is ruby glass and I just love it. Now I have 3 glass rolling pins ( the other 2 are jadeite. ), so I officially have a collection. It is gorgeous. I will have to post a picture of all 3. I need to figure out a specific display for them.
We spent Saturday with my parents. Had a great lunch at Fort  Worth, then on to grocery shopping. We had a really nice visit. Dad seems to be taking everything in stride. Mom did laugh a lot and seemed to enjoy herself. On our way home, we stopped by the Joann's in Burlington for fabric. They don't have a lot there these days. The gals working didn't know for sure, but they suspect this big sale coming up is a going-out-of-business sale. Anyway, they had wool felt for $2.99 a yard and it was the 90" wide stuff. I got several colors and several yards. Time for me to attempt my take on penny rugs. Wish me luck!
I found an antique Mahjong game at Goodwill, had been marked $40, but I got it for $20. I have played Mahjong on-line since, well since I got a computer and before that on Playin' TV. Now I need to teach my granddaughters to play!

Lots of good TV coming back this week. Looking forward to that. We have been watching a LOT of concerts on HD Net these past weeks. I love a good concert but sure do get weary of them. I mean, there's no plot! And I miss my favorite actors, too. Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice--well, Grey's was awesome. PP, well, a bit too much some times. Lots of crying......  I like NCIS ( Mark Harmon is yummy.), Castle ( Nathan Fillon, also yummy ), Justified ( Timothy Olaphant-OMG yummy ), Criminal Minds ( all good looking ) and we'll watch 2  1/2 Men  because it is a good show and Ashton Kutcher--Iowa Boy--too stinkin' cute! Yeah, I am a Tvoholoic.
Looks like we'll be eating at home this week, but we don't mind. I have some good things planned. You know, if you are ever stumped for what to fix, I do have my recipe blog and there are some great recipes over there. Great soups and a good, fast beer bread or crock pot meals. You can feel free to check them out.
MONDAY~ crab cakes, steamed broccoli, sweet potato fries
TUESDAY~cheese soup, beer bread, lime jello
WEDNESDAY~liver with onion gravy, boiled potatoes, green salad
THURSDAY~chili, crackers
FRIDAY~parmesan-crusted tilapia, succotash, green salad
SATURDAY~ pizza
SUNDAY~chicken pot pie casserole
I hope everyone has a full and satisfying week. Enjoy every day that the Lord
gives us. May your life be full of blessings, joy and peace.

It sounds like you had a wonderful birthday filled with good wishes and a wonderful day out with your folks!
You sure had me fooled when I saw the snowman, till I got to reading anyway. I'm with you, WE NEED SNOW for the same reason. The mountains don't have near enough snow yet. Our water supply is greatly dependent on the run off. Weatherman said this morning none in the forecast either!
Your new rolling pin sounds beautiful-I LOVE red!
Well, you have a great week. I'm off to make some venison stew for dinner and home made biscuits. It's only 14 degrees today.
Bless you,
Sheila

That's too funny, Linda...I'm getting ready to try my hand at penny rugs too! I'm starting with a pattern for mitten ornaments just to get the feel for working with wool felt, then I'll try a penny rug or two.

We need snow desperately here too; it's been the strangest winter. One night last week it was 52 degrees when we went to bed, and we had many nights this past summer when it was much cooler than that!

I'm a TVoholic too but the shows I watch are all different from yours, except for Two and a Half Men. We watch all the CSIs, Unforgettable, Once Upon A Time, A Gifted Man, the Bachelor (it's like watching a train wreck), Blue Bloods, Two Broke Girls, and a bunch more. Our TiVo's hard drive is always nearly full! LOL

Hugs,
Pam

I like T V too but just havn't been able to find anything to hold my intrest. Just finished round 1 of 100 letters to celebrities requesting recipes.. Now it is the waiting game. I just don't enjoy cooking like I used to but your menu sounds great. I used to do a monthly menu when all the kids were still home and enjoyed it. Happy Belated Birthday Linda..I am sorry I missed your BD..Glad you enjoyed your night out at Red Lobster..maybe some day soon I can start going shopping and eating out again. Take care and have a great week

This January weather sure has been strange...it feels more like Spring here in Ohio, but they are calling for lower temps and some snow in a few days.
Can't wait to see your penny rugs.

Great post Linda...happy your Mom and Dad doing OK! Wow every time I turn around somethings going out of business...hope the Joann's close to me will stay in business a while so I can shop for art supplies there!

Florida is talking about passing a law so we'll have to pay Florida sales tax online...I knew it was too good to last! Will cut down on my online spending!

When Don and I had DirecTV we used to watch NCIS...Mark Harmon IS a fine looking man...the only medical show he liked was "House"...Hugh Laurie is pretty fine looking too!

I'm praying for you and Iowa to have your snow!

Linda, Glad your birthday was a good one. We haven't had much snow here either, lots of rain though. If it would just get cold then all these germs would die. I find there is not much on the TV but re-runs and sports. We don't watch any sports in our house, thank goodness for that.
I don't think I could stand it. I do have some favorite shows that I do watch even if it is a re-run. I like CSI Miami, Criminal Minds and of course HGTV. My hubs calls all the decorating shows the misery channels. I watch TV in the living room and he watches his movies on the computer in the other room. Since he is hard of hearing I couldn't take him watching TV in the living room so I set him up on the computer. He won't go get a hearing aid as long as there is a volume knob to use.

Good Morning Linda, so glad you had a great birthday. Those rolling pins sound great. Can't wait to see pictures. I will be over on Wednesday for liver and onions. My most favorite meal. Mr. P. does NOT like liver. On New Years I boiled liver and pork chops and took it to my cousins for lunch. He almost got sick just smelling it cook. When I was little I remember my grandmother have hog killings and they would cook liver and lites (sp?) They would put fresh meat in it and sage and red pepper. So good. The liver and pork chops remind me of that. Can you tell I am from the south? If all you guys are not getting the cold and snow then I might as well put my snow items away. Don't see us getting any this year this far south. Still keeping my fingers crossed.
Hope you have a great week
Hugs

I've always wanted to try a Red Lobster but can't find one in our area. That was a great sale on
the wool felt. Penny rugs are fun.
